Seventeen PhD positions are available in the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Training Network “INCITE– Insect Clock Initial Training Experience”. Our network researches insect chronobiology with the aim of developing applications in insect production for feed and food, pest control, as well as basic research. We investigate the circadian and annual clocks, diapause, seasonality, sleep, endocrinology, circadian physiology and chrono-metabolism using combinations of established insect model species (i.e. Drosophila melanogaster) and emerging models, pest species, and economically important or beneficial insect (aphids, linden bugs, bumble bees, moths and butterflies, black soldier fly, houseflies, cockroaches). INCITE will provide advanced multidisciplinary multi-level scientific training that spans from molecular genetics tools, genetic engineering, genomics and transcriptomics, immunocytochemistry and electrophysiology to behavioural assays to foster the next generation of European experts in an ambitious and multidisciplinary research environment in chronobiology and entomology. Selection process Our selection procedure is open, transparent, merit-based and in line with the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. If so, we welcome talented and driven PhD students and postdoctoral fellows to join our vibrant research team at the University of Haifa in Israel. The Tauber Biological Clocks Research Laboratory is dedicated to pioneering research at the intersection of chronobiology and microbiology. We are particularly interested in understanding how the gut microbiome influences circadian rhythms, chronotype, and diurnal preference. With recent funding from the Israel Science Foundation (ISF), we are ready to explore this fascinating study area in greater depth. Our research laboratory at the University of Haifa is focused on unraveling the mechanisms underlying circadian rhythms and their modulation by the gut microbiome. Through a multidisciplinary approach combining microbiology, genetics, and chronobiology, we aim to shed light on how microbial communities influence host physiology and behavior throughout the day-night cycle. Neurobiology of rhythms, from basics to environmental impacts  The Chronobiology research group of Strasbourg is organizing an autumn school entitled "Neurobiology of Rhythms, from Basics to Environmental Impacts" from October 28th to 31st, 2024. It is open to any Master or PhD student wishing to train in different theoretical and practical aspects of chronobiology in animals and humans.
