Research Summary
Model Systems
Research Methods
Our research focuses on how light regulates physiology and behaviour, with a particular interest in how the modern light environment disrupts these processes. We also work on the links between sleep and circadian rhythms disruption and mental health. This work primarily involves mouse models, but ranges from genes to anatomy, electrophysiology and complex behaviour, including using opto- and chemogenetics.
Humans; Mice or other rodents; Suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN); Ex vivo system (other than SCN, derived from humans or other animals)
Quantitative research; Mixed methods research; Basic/fundamental/discovery research; Translational/applied research; Laboratory research; In vivo studies or preclinical work with non-human animals; In vitro experiments; Biomedical or health research; Physiology (cellular and organismal, including electrophysiology); Sleep research; Psychiatry and mental health research; Neuroscience; Biology; Molecular biology (including genetics and gene editing); Bioinformatics; Ecology and environmental research; Imaging
